Bookmarks
What it shows
Bookmarks shows the PDF outline tree used for document navigation. It lists bookmark title, page destination, page sequence, location, and zoom information; the internal Level column is included in exports but hidden in the on-screen tree.

When to use it
Use it to verify navigation structure before distribution.
Bookmarks Table
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Title | The bookmark text shown in the PDF outline. Nested rows show the bookmark hierarchy. |
| Page | The destination page label, using the document’s page labels when available. |
| Page seq | The physical page sequence number in the PDF, starting at 1. Use this when page labels differ from the actual page order. |
| Location | The destination coordinates on the target page, shown as (x, y) in PDF page coordinates. |
| Zoom | The zoom level requested by the bookmark destination when the PDF defines one. Blank means no explicit zoom was set. |
| Level | The bookmark hierarchy depth. This internal column is hidden in the on-screen tree but included in CSV and JSON exports. |
Review steps
- Compare bookmark hierarchy with the visible document sections.
- Check that important sections are present and ordered correctly.
- Look for bookmarks that point to unexpected pages or named destinations.
- Review Links if navigation targets look wrong.
Controls
Use the filter field to search bookmarks. The tree can be expanded or collapsed, and selecting a bookmark navigates the PDF preview to that destination.
Export
Bookmarks can export the outline data as CSV or JSON. Export requires PDF Auditor Pro.
